JOB DESCRIPTION:

L3Harris Maritime Power & Energy Solutions (MPES) has an opening in the software engineering organization within its Maritime Systems sector site located in Anaheim CA. Under general direction of the Manager of Software Engineering this position will focus on development and application of advanced control theory for power conversion systems develops and applies advanced control systems methods theories and research technologies in the investigation optimization and solution of complex and advanced technical problems for power conversion equipment. Define design and deploy advanced simulation strategy and method of complex physical systems for enabling automation testing capable digital twin solutions. The Scientist Controls Engineer shall lead controls engineer team in all stages of product development from design through manufacturing and system integration under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform control systems analysis of power conversion equipment and system architectures.
2. Support development of control systems design and architectures for new products.
3. Design and implement customer specification requirements for control systems design.
4. Follow directions from control systems technical leadership of the design team.
5. Write product and test specifications pertaining control systems.
6. Ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects.
7. Continue improvement in technical approach to maximize efficiency of engineering resources.
8. Provides input and with a variety of control systems engineering concepts practices and procedures
9. Senior Control Systems Software Engineer will take directions from Project Engineer and Software Engineering Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor degree in Computer / Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a four-year college or university; and minimum 0-1 years of experience in design and analysis of control systems for power conversion equipment
2. Ability to obtain and maintain a secret/security clearance.
3. Must have familiarity with control systems for power system architectures and power conversion equipment.
4. Must have expert knowledge of control theory and circuit analysis applications PSPICE and MATLAB / SIMULINK.
5. Experienced in the practical implementation of control system algorithms.
6. Knowledge of power electronics and analog circuits a plus.
7. Experience in development of military products a plus.
8. Knowledge in Digital and Microcomputer circuits a plus.
9. Must be able to work as a key member of the design team with Power Design Engineers Digital and Analog Engineers System Engineers Software Engineers and Mechanical Engineers.
10. Experienced in embedded real-time systems design.
11. Experienced in object and service-based software architectures a plus.
12. Experienced in with digital signal processing machine-to-machine communications and fiber optics-based communications subsystems.
13. Experienced in C and C programming. Knowledge of Java or C-Sharp is beneficial.
14. Expertise with communication protocols such as RS-232 RS-485 and Ethernet.
15. Proven effective communication with Senior Project Management and customer representatives is essential.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in California Massachusetts New Jersey Washington and the Greater D.C Denver or NYC areas is$42.31- $50.77/hr.
