Job Title: Life Safety System Specialist
Duration: 24 months contract

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the IT Life Safety Team Leader responsible for Life Safety Systems; coordinates the planning expansion and operation of the Central Fire and Public Address/Voice Evacuation (PA/VE) System.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consults in the planning and design of fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems in new construction and facility alteration projects with internal engineers and fire prevention specialists and outside consultants architects and engineering firms.
- Develops specifications for fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems in support projects.
- Reviews plans and specifications for all fire alarm and Emergency Communication system projects in Code Enforcement.
- Participates in project meetings for work implemented by other Airport departments.
- Conducts final acceptance tests and field inspections in support of the Bureau of Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement.
- Programs the Central Fire and PA/VE System.
- Documents system changes to the Central Fire alarm and PA/VE system.
- Responds to inquiries from Airport staff tenants airline management and contractors to provide solutions to fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems problems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in business administration computer science or related field.
- Three (3) years of fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems support experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
- Possession of a valid Class C drivers license.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems design and implementation including hardware software communications standards and documentation.
- Knowledge of National Fire Prevention Association codes and standards.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing at all levels within and outside the organization.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside the organization.
DESIRABLE:
- National Institute Certification of Engineering Technician III certification.
- Computer Aided Design and drafting experience.
- Factory Certification in Innovative Electronic Design (IED) GlobalCom audio systems.
- Experience in In-building Emergency Communication Systems. EFFORT:
- Works in both an office environment and a field environment.
- May sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Uses keyboard devices and computer monitors.
- Uses near-visual acuity in reading written documents design drawings and statistical data.
- Uses substantial reasoning abilities in performing analysis and solving problems.
- Exchanges information by telephone in writing and in person.
- Drives to locations on and off Airport property.
- Communicates by telephone 2-way radio in writing and in person.
- Frequently works on construction sites and in occupied facilities.
- Hand carries test and inspection equipment.
