Job Summary: Talladega College Student Health Medical assistant will provide support services that ensure the Student Health Center operates efficiently.
The Medical assistant will support the Nurse Practitioner and Physician during clinical hours in addition to assisting with campus wellness events. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks such as maintaining patient records preparing patients and rooms for examination assisting the Healthcare Provider with exams and performing front-desk tasks. Job Duties: Aid with patient check in by greeting each patient verifying patient identity explaining procedures to be performed and address patient questions and concerns Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment and examination of the patient Obtain and enter patient medical history and medication Observe the patient for significant conditions and reactions and notify the provider of the patients condition and reaction to drugs treatments and significant incidents Conduct provider referrals on an as-needed basis Prepare rooms sterilize instruments equipment and supplies Assist with appointment scheduling and pre-visit planning with provider Assisting provider with patient documentation and orders Assist with patient phone calls & messages Ensuring that the physical space is well-kept and organized Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality Exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in healthcare environment maintain student focus to assist with promotion of healthy initiatives Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required Certification or diploma in Medical Assisting or MA experience required Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Urgent Care or Primary Care experience preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills
