The State Mining Engineer position manages the statewide implementation of the Mining Act of 1971 including permitting inspection enforcement and education and training of the mining industry and the general public. The State Mining Engineer III is responsible for independently planning and conducting the mine regulatory program through reviewing program needs on a continual basis and establishing program priorities.

Bachelors degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must either possess a valid Professional Engineers (PE) License or obtain a valid PE License within nine (9) months of the start date for the position.
Obtaining and maintaining a valid PE license is a continuing condition of employment. Failure to obtain a valid PE license within 9 months of the positions start date will result in separation from employment.
