Job Description

Overview

Long Prairie Packing LLC an American Foods Group Company has opportunities for a Harvest General Foreperson at our Long Prairie MN plant.

As ourHarvest General Foreperson you will:

  • Oversee production operations (supervisors leads and hourly production employees) to provide for day-to-day control of assigned department activities according to prescribed schedules priorities operation sequence and processing specifications.
  • Be aware of the key performance indicators in harvest and can optimize results.
  • Responsible for crewing scheduling work quality productivity and employee training in assigned areas. Conduct line meetings.
  • Responsible for safety and housekeeping and for proper operation of equipment.
  • Participate in plant management and operational meetings.
  • Participate in company retention team meetings and drive down turnover on the harvest floor.
  • Update maintain and implement documents records or product specifications.
  • Conduct employment actions in accordance with EEO/AA guidelines (hire selection promotion demotion transfer termination etc.)
  • Evaluate department work performance and take corrective action. Work with Human Resources to take disciplinary or termination action in accordance with company standard practices and procedures.
  • Coordinate material flow through various stages of assigned departments.
  • Display a strong work ethic and a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Encourage and foster team building amongsupervisors and hourly employees.
  • Follow and enforce safety rules housekeeping and proper operation of equipment.
  • Follow and monitor proper safety equipment usage and safety practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Harvest.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm hot humid cold wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Must be assertive and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to pass knowledge and skills to supervisors and hourly employees to create a training and succession plan.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate in Arts/Associate in Science or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Prior lead/foreperson experience in Harvest.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills; abilityto use designated programs including Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform consistent accurate work minimal direction and work successfully as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with employees.
  • Ability to attend work consistently.

What We Offer:

  • The expected base salary range for this position is between $85000 to $90000. However your actual base pay may vary based on several factors including but not limited to your job-related experience qualifications skills expertise and geographic location.
  • This base salary is a component of our total compensation package which also includes the following:
    • This position is eligible for the Companys discretionary annual bonus plan and merit increases.
