Job Description

The Mechanical Project Manager will lead and manage mechanical and plumbing design projects of varying sizes and complexities. You will be responsible for project planning scope budget schedule quality control and client coordination ensuring successful project delivery. This role requires a strong background in HVAC piping duct design hydronic systems refrigeration air-handling equipment thermal plants and fire protection systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Mechanical/Plumbing Design Projects from initial planning through construction.
  • Oversee and perform engineering calculations HVAC load studies energy modeling and code reviews.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers providing quality control and technical guidance.
  • Coordinate project designs to meet client specifications and local/state/federal codes.
  • Conduct field investigations and resolve mechanical issues during construction.
  • Develop project budgets schedules and scope while monitoring performance.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations proposals and project updates.
  • Manage internal mechanical teams multi-discipline teams and subconsultants.
  • Ensure project quality safety and compliance with all applicable regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • 12 years of mechanical engineering experience in HVAC and plumbing system design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License OR EIT with the ability to obtain PE within 612 months.
  • Proficiency in Revit AutoCAD and building load simulation software (IESVE Carrier HAP preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical/plumbing codes building codes and energy standards.
  • Excellent project management organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to pass company motor vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CxA BCxP CAPM or PMP certification.
  • Experience with industrial mechanical/plumbing systems and/or fire protection design.
  • Familiarity with multiple delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build Design-Build P3).
  • Business development and client relationship management experience.
