Our dynamic custom automation firm a leader in designing building and integrating highly specialized machinery is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer. We deliver bespoke high-precision solutions encompassing advanced robotics sophisticated vision systems laser processing and intricate assembly and test automation for diverse industries. This role requires a seasoned professional capable of independently managing complex installations resolving challenging technical issues and providing unparalleled support for our cutting-edge systems in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and execute the installation startup and validation of highly complex custom automation equipment at global client sites.
* Perform advanced diagnostics root cause analysis and resolution of multi-faceted mechanical electrical controls and software issues.
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs and optimize existing machine performance.
* Provide expert-level technical training and ongoing support to customer engineering and maintenance teams.
* Act as a primary technical point of contact for strategic clients fostering strong relationships and identifying potential upgrade opportunities.
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior field service personnel.
* Contribute to design for serviceability reviews and process improvement initiatives based on field experience.
* Prepare detailed and professional service reports technical documentation and customer correspondence.
Recommended Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics or a related technical field.
* 5 years of progressive experience as a Field Service Engineer or equivalent with a strong background in custom automation special machines or complex systems integration.
* Expert-level proficiency in troubleshooting programming and configuring industrial PLCs (e.g. Rockwell Studio 5000 Siemens TIA Portal) and HMIs.
* Deep expertise in industrial robotics (e.g. Fanuc KUKA ABB Universal Robots) including programming path generation and fault recovery.
* Advanced knowledge of machine vision systems (e.g. Cognex Keyence) for inspection guidance and part identification.
* Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex multi-domain issues (electrical mechanical software) independently and efficiently.
* Exceptional analytical problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
* Outstanding communication presentation and interpersonal skills with a strong customer-centric approach.
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75% or more) domestically and internationally often on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Masters degree in Engineering or a related field.
* Experience with various laser applications (welding cutting marking) or advanced testing equipment.
* Project management experience or leading small field teams.
* Familiarity with network configuration for industrial control systems.
* Ability to strategically pivot troubleshooting approaches when encountering novel challenges.
