Job Responsibilities
- Perform microscopic examinations of cell samples to identify any abnormalities and diagnose diseases including cancer.
- Prepare and evaluate specimens for examination ensuring adherence to quality standards and protocols.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other medical professionals to discuss findings and assist in treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs to enhance skills and stay updated on advancements in cytology.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and assist in developing new diagnostic techniques.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials in accordance with health regulations.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Cytotechnology or a related field.
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist (ASCP or equivalent).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality assurance protocols.
Desired Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and laboratory information systems.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
