The Program Officer supports ASM Healths mission to advance microbial science through collaborative research cross-sector partnerships and impactful initiatives in areas like diagnostics AMR therapeutics and microbiome. Reporting to the Director of ASM Health this mid-level role is suited for a scientifically trained professional with program management experience and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include leading multi-stakeholder programs engaging with scientific and industry partners contributing to outreach strategies and supporting business development through proposal writing and internal projects.
Accountabilities (are thecritical activities and resultsthe position is held accountable to produce)
Essential Functions (defines the critical end results expected of the jobholder related to the accountabilities above)
1. Develop and manage multi-stakeholder initiatives involving academia industry government non-profits and other partners organized into thematic working groups aligned with ASM Healths focus areas (e.g. diagnostics therapeutics AMR microbiome and surveillance).
2. Support scientific needs assessments opportunity mapping and partner engagement strategies.
3. Organize and facilitate meetings with ASMs Scientific Advisory Council working groups and external stakeholders.
4. Draft concept notes policy memos white papers and funding proposals that reflect scientific priorities.
5. Lead development of presentations sponsor-facing content newsletters and program reports.
6. Collaborate with ASMs marketing and communications teams to promote initiatives across platforms.
7. Track program outcomes milestones and financials to ensure progress and sustainability.
8. Represent ASM Health at external convenings stakeholder forums and global partner meetings as needed.

2. Project Management Skills: Plans initiates executes controls and closes projects. Tracks and manages resources timelines costs deliverables and performance and implements contingency plans if necessary to ensure projects are successfully completed.

4. Planning and Organizing Skills: The ability to organize prioritize and where applicable delegate work activities to efficiently accomplish tasks and meet objectives.
5. Presentation & Written Communication Skills: Either one-on-one or within a group setting employing the use of various media to share ideas convey information and obtain necessary inputs in a clear and concise manner.
6. Domain Knowledge: Demonstrates professional/technical knowledge skills and expertise within functional area. Stays current on best practices and the ability to apply that knowledge and/or skill in a variety of work situations.
7. Enterprise Processes and Technologies: Understands and effectively uses standard office equipment such as personal computers / laptops and office automation software. Uses new specialized or organization-specific equipment technologies software databases and systems as required in accordance with the organization policies. Up to date on social media and uses it appropriately on behalf of ASM.

This is a remote mostly sedentary role with standard use of computer phone and video conferencing tools. Occasional travel may be required.

Minimum Required Education
Bachelors degree in microbiology public health biomedical sciences or related field required advanced degree (Masters or PhD) preferred.
