Job Duties:

The Department of Medicine Division of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism offers a unique opportunity for a Research Specialist position within the Dudley Lamming Lab. This position offers great opportunities to gain hands-on experiences in animal research in the area of nutrition aging and metabolism with translational values to advance the prevention and treatment of human diseases and improve public health.   • This position requires work to be completed onsite at a designated campus work location.

  • The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with great attention to details
  • Be able to adhere to protocols and other compliance requirements
  • Be able to work independently after completion of training
  • Be well organized in record keeping
  • Be able to assist other research staff in various capacities

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with other labs to design experiments and perform specialized metabolic phenotyping on their projects
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • Reviews analyzes and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • Participates in the development interpretation and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • Operates cleans and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is $44543; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
