Class Summary

Job Description

The Water Quality Associate is responsible for performing skilled laboratory analyses and tests in determining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Essential Duties

  • Analyze and test water wastewater and other samples to determine compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Review and assist in interpreting test results and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Inspect lakes streams sewage systems businesses and other establishments for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Utilize maintain and assist in calibrating laboratory instruments in and outside of the lab.
  • Assist in overseeing the sample collection process and may collect samples when necessary.
  • Maintain a database of users records and other information detailing testing results and compliance.
  • Create forms troubleshoot computers and modify data sheets as necessary.
  • Interact and educate County employees and citizens on environmental issues and concerns.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

The grade for this position is B22(1).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Two years of laboratory experience;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • A valid drivers license and the ability to meet requirements to operate a Gwinnett County vehicle
