What you can expect:
The Psychiatrist on Sheppard Pratts Geriatric Inpatient Unit provides specialized psychiatric care to older adults with complex mental health and dementia-related disorders. This individual is responsible for conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations admission assessments and risk assessments prescribing and managing psychotropic medications and developing individualized treatment plans that address both psychiatric and cognitive needs. The psychiatrist works closely with the interdisciplinary team to monitor patient progress adjust interventions as needed and coordinate care for optimal outcomes.
In addition to direct clinical care the Psychiatrist provides therapeutic support to patients and guidance to families ensuring continuity of care and safe transitions to home or other supportive settings. This role requires strong clinical judgment collaboration skills and the ability to address the unique needs of older adults in a compassionate patient-centered manner.
Specific Responsibilities:
Conduct psychiatric evaluations diagnostic assessments and admission physicals for geriatric patients.
Prescribe and manage medications and provide individual or group therapies tailored to older adults.
Develop implement and adjust individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Support safe transitions to home or less restrictive care engaging patients and families in the process.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with medical and regulatory standards.
Promote effective communication and collaboration within the treatment team.
Model professionalism cultural competence and patient-centered care while mentoring junior staff.

What we need from you:
Active Maryland medical license and Board Certification in Psychiatry.
Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and valid DEA Certificate.
Minimum two years of experience in acute psychiatric settings including completion of residency; child/adolescent roles require fellowship training.
Experience providing care in acute behavioral or crisis settings.
The base pay range for this position is $240000 minimum to $285000 for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to board certifications and years and level of related experience.
