As an Office Assistant in the Health Department you will be working with and assisting people from many cultures races languages backgrounds and life experiences different from your own and may be the first voice or person someone encounters. This positions primary focus is answering and routing incoming calls to the Health Center Operations (HCO) Call Center providing information as needed as well as registering new patients and scheduling appointments for both new and existing clients.

As the Patient Access Call Center Bilingual Spanish Office Assistant 2 your duties may include but may not be limited to:

  • First point of contact for clients by phone answer incoming calls routes appropriately and uses Epic in-basket messaging to communicate with teams per policy and workflow.

  • Provide clients with current information and resources for other county services and outside agencies.

  • Schedule appointments for patients according to scheduling guidelines.

  • Confirm demographics verify insurance coverage and schedule appointments as indicated for Eligibility Services.

  • Reschedule appointments and manage appointment cancellations.

  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients and staff.

  • Perform outreach to patients when needed.

  • Submit PCP change form to insurance prior to patient attending scheduled medical appointment.

  • Receiving sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education training and experience will be evaluated.

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; AND

Experience: One (1) - Two (2) years of general office support or customer service experience dealing directly with the public.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSA): This position requires the ability to speak read and write fluently in Spanish and English (language testing may be required).

Inclement Weather and Disasters - Serving the Public Even During Disasters:

Everyday Multnomah County staff work together to serve as a safety net for our communities. During a disaster this safety net becomes even more critical. All County employees have a role in serving the public during inclement weather natural disaster or other types of community emergency response. During these emergency responses while typically there begins with a call for volunteers county employees may ultimately be reassigned from their current position to a role in the emergency response in order to support the critical needs presented by our communities.
