The American Red Cross of Louisiana has an immediate opening for a Regional Communication Director. This is a benefits eligible full time position.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):
position that will serve as an important component of the American Red Cross regional leadership team. The Director will determine the communications and marketing functions that drive regional business objectives and results publicize the mission of the Red Cross support revenue generations and educate the public about how to access Red Cross services. The Director will work in close collaboration with the Regional Executive Division Communications Director Field Marketing Development Disaster Cycle Services Service to the Armed Forces Biomedical Services Health and Safety Executive Directors and Volunteer Services teams to provide communication and marketing support. Will also provide support development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Travel: Travel may be required 10-25%.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
1. Execute a strategic communication and public relations plan that is aligned with the organizational communications and marketing strategies to support service delivery and revenue generation efforts across all lines of and leverage communication opportunities and provide input to develop marketing and communication strategies.
2. Develop and execute determined media relations and social media strategy including social media platform maintenance media contact management news release distributions pitching etc. Respond to local media inquiries by coordinating interviews and providing Red Cross approved information as appropriate. Review media support requests and execute an effective communications strategy to ensure a consistent ARC image and message to the public and enhance media responsiveness during emergency conditions. Monitor and analyze public relations and social engagement data.
3. Support public affairs activities to develop and implement communications strategies. Train and prepare staff and volunteer spokespersons for interviews hearings meetings etc.
4. Develop and implement internal communications strategies and initiatives.
5. Stay abreast of emerging business news topics and trends competitor news and developing media issues to ensure Red Cross initiatives are consistent with industrys best practices.
6. May be required to deploy physically or virtually and provide public affairs and media support including serving as a spokesperson.
7. Manage staff to include daily activities performance goals and achievements. Build volunteer engagement.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
Education: Bachelors degree required in Communications Journalism Public Relations Marketing Public Affairs or related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required in Communications Journalism Public Relations Marketing Public Affairs or related field required.
Management Experience: 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities. Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Develop project plans & budgets. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of program or service ability to create presentations and training modules and strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated analytical and decision- making skills to interpret program trends results formulate recommendations and develop creative processes for continuous program or service improvements. Proven track record of collaboration with diverse groups and individuals managing multiple priorities facilitation problem solving marketing leadership and partnership management. Additionally this position requires ability for planning public speaking project management and process improvement. Individual must be customer oriented organized and able to operate with an orientation toward solutions with an external focus and team orientation. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software including Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiarity with federal state and local employment laws. Must be able to perform all assigned responsibilities under grey sky requirements. Ability to work in a matrixed environment and on a team.
