Job Description

Datadogs Infrastructure productsspanning Containers Serverless Networking and morehelp engineers understand and operate the systems their applications depend on. Our users work in complex fast-changing environments like Kubernetes and serverless where workloads shift constantly telemetry is dense and time-to-insight can make or break reliability.

Today these products are powerful but often feel disconnected. We see a huge opportunity to bring them together into a cohesive guided experience that tells a clear story: whats happening why it matters and what to do next. This means making invisible infrastructure feel visible and actionablewhether someones debugging a workload in real time or optimizing performance at scale.

As a Staff Product Designer in Infrastructure youll be a strategic partner to design engineering and product leadership. Youll shape cross-product workflows improve day-to-day usability and create design patterns that scale. Working closely with PM and Engineering youll ensure Infra is not just functional but intuitive discoverable and trusted by our most technical users.

What Youll Do:

  • Lead high-impact design initiatives across Containers Serverless Networking and other Infra areas to create a unified guided experience.
  • Shape the long-term UX vision for Infra ensuring customers can quickly identify anomalies understand their impact and move seamlessly to investigation and resolution.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to create more integrated and intuitive cross-product experiences.
  • Partner with PM and Engineering leadership to align roadmaps and drive cohesive multi-product user experiences.
  • Elevate design craft by improving fragmented or legacy patterns unifying shared Infra surfaces and setting a high execution bar.
  • Mentor and support designers in Infra sharing frameworks critiques and best practices that raise quality and velocity.
  • Represent design in strategy and planning ensuring UX vision is embedded in OKRs roadmaps and cross-team priorities.
  • Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution moving fluidly between long-term direction and delivering impactful iterations in mature products.

Who You Are:

  • Staff-level designer with 10 years of experience crafting complex web-based products.
  • Proven ability to tell compelling stories that advocate for users build alignment and articulate a clear design vision.
  • Comfortable working across deeply technical domains and multi-product ecosystems.
  • Natural collaborator and facilitator skilled at navigating cross-functional dynamics with senior stakeholders.
  • Experienced in creating and scaling design patterns across an organization.
  • Skilled in balancing strategy research interaction design and visual design to deliver elevated solutions.
  • Successful track record leading 01 initiatives as well as scaling and iterating mature products.
  • Strong at giving and receiving feedback and fostering continuous improvement for yourself and your team.
  • Actively mentors and guides other designers raising the quality bar across the team.
  • Deeply fluent in modern design tools like Figma and continuously exploring new waysincluding AIto boost efficiency and prototyping speed.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience designing for infrastructure observability or developer tools.
  • Familiarity with containerized environments Kubernetes or serverless architectures.
  • Experience in high-growth SaaS or B2B environments particularly those supporting technical users.
