Food Service SupervisorJob Duties:
Under the direction of a Food Service Manager theFood Service Supervisoris directly responsible for managing the daily operations of residential dining units as assigned. Units have their own full-time Food Service Assistants and are operated mostly by part-time student staff. All Full time and Part time staff report directly to the Team of Food Service Supervisors. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining units standards. These standards may include staff hiring payroll scheduling supervision of training inventory control product quality ordering and sanitation. Evening and weekend hours will be required for this position.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Cleans inspects and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- Leads and provides exceptional customer service answers questions and provides information regarding food preparation catering and associated activities
- Adheres to federal state campus and local food safety regulations policies and procedures
- Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
- Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
- Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
Department: Retail Services:
The mission ofRestaurant Operationsis to provide a quality dining experience at an affordable price that enhances campus life and supports the overall mission of the University. It is the responsibility of Restaurant Operations to operate in a fiscally responsible manner contribute fair-share support to the University and sustain adequate reserves for future growth.
Compensation: $19.00 to $21.00 per hour
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment
- Experience working in a large volume operation such as catering university or similar gross sales in excess of 1 million
- Basic Food Prep Experience
- Experience with staff training and employee scheduling
- Two or more years experience with mentoring counseling and disciplining staff
- Experience usingPOSto process payments
- Knowledge of essential food service equipment
- Certificate or Technical Diploma or Associates Degree (or higher) in Hospitality Culinary Arts or related field
- ServSafe certification Food Handler or Manager certification
