Job Summary

This position assists the physician/provider with the examination and treatment of patients and performs routine tasks per scope of practice. Participates in the planning and evaluation of patient care.

LPN Qualifications:

  • Current Montana Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in similar position within a medical setting (i.e. physician practice or hospital) preferred.
  • CPR certification required as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Possess knowledge of equipment supplies and instruments used in a medical office preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills detail-oriented a self-starter possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

Qualifications:

  • Post high school education or vocational training in healthcare preferred. Other combinations of education and clinical setting experience may be considered.

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant licensure required.

  • Current Health Care Provider CPR preferred or must successfully complete prior to completion of orientation.

  • Medical office experience and medical terminology training preferred. Possess working knowledge of anatomy physiology medical terminology basic laboratory values and pharmacology preferred.

  • Knowledge and familiarity with medical equipment and instruments common safety hazards and precautions patient rights regulatory standards and aseptic technique and infection control preferred. Knowledge of Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and confidentiality requirements preferred.

  • Minimum of one (1) of the below medical administration requirements:

    • Possess working knowledge of safe pharmaceutical handling requirements and guidelines.

    • Must complete LH medication administration training.

  • Must employ critical thinking skills respond to a changing workload in a positive and professional manner and prioritize and seek assistance as appropriate. Possess interpersonal skills and communication necessary to interact with patients families and providers effectively.

  • Must successfully complete all onboarding education and competencies prior to performing the competency specific tasks on a patient.

Job Specific Duties:

  • As applicable to assigned area(s); Performs general nursing duties and specialty procedures. Develops implements and revises individualized goal directed nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process as appropriate for LPNs in the practice setting.
  • Performs and documents limited physical psychosocial and spiritual assessment of assigned patients within scope of practice and utilizes available sources of information and incorporates the patients perception of illness/condition.
  • Assists provider with examinations and procedures as directed and in accordance with established nursing standards.
  • Prepares and administers specified medications and injections within scope of practice as ordered by the provider.
  • Accurately and efficiently transcribes and implements provider orders treatments and consistently problem solves issues effecting patient care.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of infection control procedure and strictly adheres to policies and procedures as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • Cleans and maintains ample supply of sterilized instruments and supplies for procedures. Thoroughly cleans exam rooms as applicable to assigned area(s) procedure and protocol.
  • Collects packages and accurately labels all specimens immediately upon receipt and forwards to designated lab(s) according to established protocols.
  • Collects telephone screening information provides standardized instruction schedules appointments arranges for hospital admissions and schedules any testing or procedures as directed and as applicable to assigned area(s).
  • As applicable to assigned area(s); Coordinates indigent program. Assists patients with completing applications and distributes medications and/or samples under direction of the Provider.
  • Provides teaching to patients and families including but not limited to diabetic education (diet monitoring blood sugar via finger sticks S&S of hypo and hyperglycemia) Reduced calorie diet planning side effects of and appropriate medication administration give and discuss handouts on numerous medical conditions and problems mail education handouts and low fat low cholesterol diet plans to patients.
  • Recognizes and uses appropriate channels to communicate situations of concern involving patients family members physicians or other staff members.
  • Tracks supply levels and orders supplies when appropriate.
  • Monitors all medications for expiration dates discards and reorders medications as needed maintains records on temperature of medication refrigerator/freezer glucometer controls and logbook narcotic administration lock/count.

Day Shift - 10 Hours (United States of America)

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
