About Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY)

Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) is the leading provider of services for homeless youth in the DC region. Through the holistic integration of our Pillars of Opportunitysafe homes life skills and workforce development we address the complex and unique needs of young people and their families.

For over 50 years SBY has led innovative efforts to end youth homelessness. Today our programs in Washington DC and Prince Georges County MD reach more than 6500 runaway homeless abused and neglected youth and their families annually.

About Olaiyas Cradle and Grace House

This position is split evenly between two programs in Ward 8 of Washington DC: Grace House an independent living program that serves six young women in DC foster care and their children and Olaiyas Cradle a transitional housing program for ten young mothers and their children. Both programs provide a range of supports including case management life skills education parenting support career and educational guidance and recreational opportunities to promote healthy development and family stability.


Position Summary: Family Support Clinician

The Family Support Clinician provides trauma-informed relationship-based therapeutic services to pregnant and parenting young women and their families with an emphasis on strengthening mental health secure attachment and healthy family functioning. The clinician will maintain a caseload of up to 16 clients across the two programs and will provide individual dyadic and family interventions as well as group-based support and education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide individual therapy parent-child therapy and co-parenting support with a focus on healthy family functioning secure attachment and emotional wellness.

Facilitate workshops and parenting support groups on topics such as parenting skills and child development healthy relationships and co-parenting stress management and self-care mental health and substance use and others.

Deliver life skills education informed by Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) on topics including early childhood development medical care for infants and toddlers age-appropriate discipline navigating childcare relationships and family planning

Coordinate and lead two-generation family-focused activities to foster strong parent-child bonds and positive peer support among young families.

Collaborate with internal staff and external community partners to connect families with resources and enhance program offerings.

Maintain clinical documentation and ensure timely data entry and reporting in compliance with agency and funder requirements.

Contribute to the development of program strategy and service enhancements rooted in trauma-informed culturally responsive and strengths-based care.

Participate in regular clinical supervision team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Stay current with licensure and agency clearances.

Demonstrate a consistent commitment to trauma-informed anti-oppressive and family-centered practices.

Maintain a flexible schedule with regular early evening work and occasional weekend work.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Masters degree in social work counseling psychology or a related field.

Licensure to practice independently or under supervision in Washington DC (LGSW LICSW LGPC LPC).

Demonstrated skills in family systems work dyadic or infant mental health parenting education or trauma treatment.

Strong group facilitation communication and organizational skills.

Ability to travel between sites (both located in Ward 8).

Commitment to racial equity reproductive justice youth empowerment and Sasha Bruce Youthworks mission.


Additional Information:

This is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Clinical supervision toward independent licensure will be provided. Some evening hours may be required to accommodate family schedules.

If an offer is extended the candidate will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check FBI fingerprinting and any additional screenings required by funders or licensing bodies.
