Your Responsibilities and Duties:
Verify insurance eligibility and authorization requirements prior to claim submission.
Resolve claim rejections through clearinghouse and payer portal edits.
Stay current on payer-specific rules mental health coverage policies and coding changes.
Review EOBs/ERAs to identify and categorize denials and underpayments.
Investigate and correct claim errors; submit appeals or reconsiderations as needed.
Maintain documentation of denial reasons appeal steps and final outcomes.
Analyze denial trends and work with clinical/admin staff to prevent recurring issues.
Follow up with payers to ensure timely resolution of outstanding claims.
Accurately post insurance and patient payments into the billing system.
Reconcile posted payments with daily bank deposits and remittance advice.
Apply appropriate adjustments write-offs and refunds according to policy.
Maintain accurate aging reports and ensure account balances are up to date.
Communicate discrepancies or payment trends to the billing manager.
Greet and check in clients professionally and compassionately.
Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
Collect co-pays and other payments at the time of service and provide receipts.
Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA at all times.
Keep the front desk area organized clean and welcoming for clients.
