This position is based on our site in Uppsala where Thermo Fisher Scientific develops manufactures and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy asthma and autoimmune diseases. We are the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics.
ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD) is recruiting a Manager for the Production Biotechnology department. This department is responsible for the cultivation and purification of proteins for allergy testing and the manufacturing of products in the development phase within allergy diagnostics. Production Biotechnology comprises three groups: Monoclonal Antibodies & Enzyme Conjugate Allergen Components and ISAC & Rapid.
You will be part of the Allergen Components group where the team activities include fermentation and expression of recombinant allergens as well as purification of recombinant and native allergenic components. Allergy diagnostics are undergoing an exciting development and growth phase for component-resolved allergy testing. The operation takes on the challenge of handling increased production volumes of existing components and transferring new processes.
About the role
You will lead a team of eight employees responsible for producing allergenic addition to production the role includes optimization of manufacturing processes validation transfer and preparation of new processes from R&D as well as development of operations and quality systems. The group works in accordance with cQSR and ISO 13485.
Your work will encompass responsibilities for personnel budget process quality environment and operations. You will also be a member of the management team for Biotechnology and participate in the strategic development of the departments operations. Important points of contact include other functions within Global Operations and close collaboration with R&D in connection with the development work of process and product care.
What do you need
A university education in biotechnology or equivalent with experience from similar assignments and companies.
Proficiency in Swedish and English both spoken and written is required.
To thrive in the role you should be quality-conscious with an understanding of working according to a quality system with regulatory requirements. Previous leadership experience is advantageous.
You have a strong curiosity about production where flow optimization with a customer focus is central.
You appreciate and are accustomed to collaborating cross-functionally and in development projects.
You are able to independently lead and drive continuous improvement work regarding quality and efficiency.
To succeed you are an operationally present manager who has a great interest in leading and developing personnel helping employees grow with their challenges and tasks.
