Job Description
Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical-Surgical
Start Date: 9/8/2025
Duration: 13 weeks
Location: Alpena MI 49707
Shift Type/Shift Times/Hours/Day: Days 10
Shift Notes: 630-1500/ 0630-1700 (40-Hour Guarantee)
Weekend Requirements: 1 weekend a month
On-Call Requirements: 1 weekday a week and 1 weekend a month

Traveler Policy: Candidates Permanent Address (Facility will not consider local candidates - 50-mile radius restriction)
Dress Code: Navy Blue

This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure and maintaining patient safety. The RN outlines individual care plans implements evaluates and documents care of the patient during surgical procedures. Provides leadership to the OR team. Communicates with the patient and family OR team supervisor manager and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development through preceptorship and continuing education
Responsibilities
- (40%)* Assesses the needs of the surgical patient and develops a plan of care specific to that patient. Implements and evaluates the plan of care during the procedure and makes necessary adjustments keeping patient safety a priority.
- (30%)* Supervises activity in the room. Anticipates and coordinates any schedule changes for the room. Assembles equipment and supplies. Assists anesthesia as necessary. Monitors sterile field.
- (20%)* Communicates with patient family physician OR team supervisor/manager and ancillary departments.
- (10%)* Participates in staff development by attending in-services educational meetings staff meetings and other meetings/seminars for educational opportunities along with leadership and growth opportunities.
- 2 Years of OR RN Experience - Required
- Must be proficient in OR cases including general ortho ob/gyn including endo eye (preferred) and endoscopy - Required
- BLS (AHA) - Required

- 2 Supervisory Reference Forms taken within the last two years
