BASIC FUNCTION

Conduct assessments of students who have been referred for special education and related services including the administration of standardized assessments criterion-related assessments behavior evaluations and assessments of academic processing. Work with school psychologists special education teachers and related service providers in the completion of the required three-year assessments of students with identified needs for special education and related services.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts initial eligibility educational assessments including behavioral observations and social developmental history
  • Assists school psychologists in conducting three-year educational assessments and writing assessment reports
  • Monitor due dates of initial and three-year evaluations and gather data for report writing
  • Create a monitoring system to ensure all assessment components are collected and given to the school psychologist in a timely manner
  • Provides written analysis of assessment data and assists the School Psychologist in writing the integrated reports
  • Attends initial and three-year eligibility ARCs to discuss test results
  • Attends other ARCs as requested
  • Assists Special Education Facilitator with referrals gathering of information prior to referral ARCs (i.e. screening information etc.) and attending referral ARCs
  • Maintains regular attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned



KNOWLEDGE OF:


Knowledgeable in the areas of due process including referral timelines ARC procedures Least Restrictive Environments etc.

  • Academic Tests used for special education eligibility

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree
  • Three years of successful teaching experience
  • Must have working knowledge of the requirements of the Individuals with Disability Education Act
  • Experience in administering and interpreting educational assessments preferred but not required.
  • Kentucky Certification in Special Education
  • Endorsement for Teacher Consultant

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of board policy for certified personnel.
