Job Purpos
- To ensure that all allegations or concerns about adults who work with children are managed effectively in line with statutory guidance. The LADO provides advice guidance and oversight to ensure that safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly fairly and consistently across all agencies and organisations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the management of allegations against professionals carers and volunteers working with children.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to employers voluntary organisations and partner agencies.
- Liaise with police social care regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to coordinate investigations.
- Monitor and track the progress of cases to ensure timely and appropriate resolution.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records using the LADO case management system.
- Prepare and present reports including the annual LADO report to senior leadership and safeguarding boards.
- Support and challenge organisations to improve safeguarding practices and safer recruitment.
- Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement through audits reviews and training.
- Escalate concerns where organisations fail to meet safeguarding responsibilities.
Essential Experience Required
- Substantial post-qualification experience in safeguarding children.
- Proven experience in managing complex safeguarding cases and inter-agency working.
- Strong understanding of statutory guidance including Working Together to Safeguard Children and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
