Art History Faculty (Full-Time)

Position Overview:
American International University (AIU) seeks dynamic and engaged full-time faculty in Art History for the School of Architecture and Design. We are looking for educators who are passionate about teaching mentoring and building inspiring learning environments. The successful candidate will bring expertise in art history a commitment to student success and the ability to connect historical and contemporary art to the broader context of design and culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses in art history with expertise in one or more of the following: ancient medieval early modern modern or contemporary art history.
- Engage students in critical and creative thinking visual analysis and historical inquiry.
- Guide students in exploring expressive practices artifacts and other forms of cultural production.
- Incorporate relevant professional trends examples and technologies into the classroom.
- Support students through mentorship academic advising and extracurricular activities such as exhibitions and cultural events.
- Contribute to program development curriculum design and departmental initiatives.
- Conduct research present at academic conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participate in school and university service activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in Art History preferred; Masters degree required.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of university-level teaching preferred; demonstrated excellence in teaching mentoring and curriculum development; evidence of scholarly activity research publications or creative work in the art history field.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong knowledge of art history and design culture; ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds; excellent communication skills in English (oral and written); commitment to continuous professional development.
Research & Scholarship Expectations:
- Maintain an active research agenda and contribute to the discipline through publications and presentations.
- Lead or participate in exhibitions and student showcases.
- Engage with the academic community locally nationally and internationally.
