Senior Rail Bridge Engineer

Job Description

AECOM Mississauga is seeking a Senior Rail Bridge Engineer to provide owners advisory services for rail bridge structure projects from conceptual design through substantial completion. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a technical expert within an integrated project delivery team. The ideal candidate will bring advanced structural engineering expertise strong leadership and communication skills and a commitment to excellence in infrastructure development.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and requires co-location at our clients office in downtown Toronto at least 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a technical advisor and senior resource for bridge design and analysis ensuring compliance with Canadian and international design standards.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams in the design assessment and rehabilitation of major heavy rail and transit structures.
• Provide specialized technical input on structural materials construction methods and engineering best practices.
• Providing arms length quality assurance ensuring the compliance of design calculations drawings and technical reports with standards and specifications.
• Develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions optimizing structural performance and longevity.
• Prepare and review technical specifications feasibility studies and construction cost estimates.
• Collaborate with clients contractors government agencies and internal teams during project execution.
• Contribute to the development of engineering budgets project schedules and resource planning to meet delivery milestones.
• Provide mentorship and support junior engineers in a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in bridge and transportation structure design.
• Professional Engineer (.) designation in Ontario.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Extensive experience leading rail bridge design projects within and adjacent to live rail corridors.
• Proficiency in advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g. MIDAS CSI Bridge SAP2000).
• Strong knowledge of AREMA and Canadian bridge design codes and standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with experience supervising engineers and designers.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to coordinate with contractors government agencies and interdisciplinary teams for seamless project execution.
