We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic to join our team in Maffra this role you will be responsible for diagnosing repairing and maintaining a wide range of heavy commercial vehicles ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.
What youll be doing:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles including trucks buses and construction equipment
- Diagnose complex mechanical electrical and electronic issues using computerized diagnostic equipment and analytical skills
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle systems including engines transmissions brakes and electrical components
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to minimize vehicle downtime and extend equipment life
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to accurately troubleshoot and repair vehicle systems
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work performed
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle status and repair needs
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintain a clean organized work environment
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and repair techniques in the heavy commercial vehicle industry
The skills and experience youll bring to the role:
- Proficient knowledge of the mechanical operation and maintenance of a range of vehicles plant and equipment inclusive of Garbage Compactors and road Sweeping trucks.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in heavy commercial vehicle repair and maintenance
- Ability to analyse diagnose and determine solutions to problems relating to plant and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
- Ability to utilise and operate computer-based maintenance software to manage maintenance activities on day-to-day basis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
- Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations
- Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on accuracy and quality
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills to interact with team members and customers
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies in the field
- Strong mechanical skills and in-depth knowledge of heavy commercial vehicle systems
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic equipment and interpreting results
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose complex issues efficiently
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Expertise in using various hand and power tools required for vehicle repairs
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Post trade qualifications (Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic) garbage compactor technology or a related discipline/s Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification
- Heavy rigid endorsement.
- Valid drivers license; heavy vehicle drivers license preferred
