ResponsibilitiesIn this position...
- Manage the procurement of Ford Owned Shipping Racks & Dunnage responsible for taking production parts from tier 1 suppliers to our assembly plants including:
- Steel Shipping Racks
- Plastic Injection Molded Trays and Dunnage
- Vacuum Formed Trays and Dunnage
- Fabric Sewn Bags
- Standard bulk bins and containers
- Market Testing Blanket orders and Contracts
- Design Prototype and Production
- Work in conjunction with the packaging engineering team to assess and focus on the delivery and quality
- Use of negotiation and sourcing tools such as GDIA to develop sourcing recommendations develop leverage and drive waste from processes.
- Identification and development of new packaging suppliers.
- Leverage data analytics to support sourcing decisions.
- Understand industry trends and associated data analytical trends.
- Lead strategic work such as Business Unit Reviews Commodity Strategy updates etc.
- Lead for management of supplier relationships.
- Champion minority supplier development and opportunities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Fords Packaging Engineering team.
External Warehouse Buyer
- Manage the procurement of External Warehouse Services responsible for supporting our assembly plants
- Bulk Metering
- Small Lot
- Sequencing (Broadcast & ILVS)
- Bank Builds
- Value-add Assembly (minimal minor operations)
- Management of Money Parts in support of manufacturing operations
- Work to optimize warehousing solutions and manage competitiveness utilizing supplier solutions to support operational Statement of Work (SOW) requirements.
- Work in conjunction with the operations team to assess and focus on the effectiveness and efficiency of the Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related tools to be utilized as supplier solutions.
- Develop and provide purchasing POV for the cross-functional team on sourcing actions to improve warehousing operations and support for effective management of parts flow to manufacturing plants.
- Use of negotiation and sourcing tools such as GDIA to develop sourcing recommendations and develop leverage and help drive waste from processes.
- Identification and development of new EWH suppliers.
- Leverage data analytics to support sourcing decisions
- Understand industry trends and associated data analytical trends.
- Lead strategic work such as Business Unit Reviews Commodity Strategy updates etc.
- Lead for management of Supplier relationships
- Champion minority supplier development and opportunities
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Fords External Warehousing Operations team.
- Understand warehouse operations and help maximize efficiency by sourcing solutions based on plans for optimization and quality.
QualificationsYoull have...
Bachelors degree in a relevant field (Supply Chain Business Engineering)
Strong leadership skills
Positive Can Do attitude when faced with demanding customer expectations.
Highly organized analytical and a strategic thinker to support demanding requirements
Team approach with fellow Buyers and MP&L/Plant Operations team counterparts
Able to maintain focus and operate under pressure in fast paced environment
Ability to find leverage with a market driven commodity to help achieve optimal cost and service
Strong computer software skills (MS Excel MS PowerPoint)
