To perform detailed field surveys of roofing building envelope pavement mechanical systems and lighting and electrical systems across commercial and industrial facilities. The Facility Survey Technician is responsible for collecting accurate condition data documenting asset inventory identifying visible hazards or deficiencies and performing light preventative maintenance when needed. This role represents Mantis in supporting the initial phases of our capital planning processes for facility asset management for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct condition assessments of roofs building exteriors pavements mechanical/HVAC equipment and lighting systems.
Collect and document asset inventory using handheld digital tools and GPS-enabled tablets.
Take clear comprehensive photos and measurements of facility components.
Identify and report physical defects safety hazards or visible deterioration.
Perform basic maintenance tasks during inspections such as clearing debris or resealing components.
Adhere to safety protocols and participate in daily job hazard assessments.
Upload survey data and daily reports into digital platforms.
Coordinate fieldwork with Project Managers and Field Team Leaders supporting project schedules and accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
5 years of field experience in commercial facility inspections for roofing mechanical/HVAC lighting/electrical pavement and building envelope.
Strong ability to interpret and document field conditions independently.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) and comfortable with mobile data collection tools and software (tablets customized inspection apps etc.).
Strong attention to detail photo documentation skills and field reporting discipline.
Ability to lift 5075 lbs climb ladders and work in outdoor environments on roofs and elevated surfaces.
Willingness to travel frequently (up to 8090%) including overnight and out-of-state assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or technical training in construction engineering or facilities.
OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training.
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards roofing systems ADA guidelines or commercial/industrial construction drawings.
Recognized industry certifications such as Registered Roof Observer (RRO) Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) etc.
