Job Description:
Position Summary: The Telecom System Engineer is providing technical support to the Secure Land Communication products and Services to include the installation maintenance and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems. Position requires availability to work nights and weekends.
Primary Responsibilities: 90%
- Work irregular schedule Holiday night and week-end based on the system performance and operations requirements including last minute requirement.
- Maintain troubleshoot align repairs and program hand held subscriber or vehicular mobile radio units Key Loading programmers battery chargers RF and IP infrastructure not limited to Airbus equipment.
- System administration devices (Windows and Linux based).
- Install update and troubleshoot software on devices control nodes infrastructures and dependents.
- Open follow up and close trouble tickets/service tickets utilizing the Airbus ticketing system
- Document/validate incoming and outgoing assets track repairs/RMA Prepare shipment follow up status of repairs with factory in Europe or with domestic partners.
- Assist in inventory control and warranty or PM programs
- Document exceptions or emergencies.
- Developed and update all technical documentations related to the SLC infrastructure supported by the team.
- Proposed design or organization improvement to Airbus US SLC Director
- Assist in set up and configuration of demos when necessary
- Develop or adjust appropriate maintenance procedures based on information received from management R&D team and Operation team.
- First and second level of maintenance and troubleshooting of Tetrapol Network including IP network system RF infrastructure and Airbus equipment.
- Fulfill Support requests for technical data user information and operation standards
- Generate report and statistics based on the information collected
- Copying filing and other routine administrative duties as assigned
- Support quality/ISO security safety and training programs applicable

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in IT Electronics Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline required.
Certification:
- CCNA MCSE VCP-DCV CompTIA Linux CompTIA A CompTIA Network LPIC-2 or LPIC-3 certification or formal telecom training desired.
- RF certification is a plus
Experience:
- A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in IT Telecom related system and / or RF infrastructure (LMR or LTE).
Knowledge Skills Demonstrated Capabilities:
- Under supervision of the Director of Secure Land Communications Programs follow existing procedures and recommendations
- Possess knowledge of the techniques and theories characteristic of electronics such as a knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory algebra and elementary physics
- Must be able to interact cordially and productively with co-workers supervisors and customers.
- Must possess knowledge of IT network environment
- Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Valid state issued drivers license required.
- Must be able to operate a 4X4 vehicle. Be able to drive under limited visibility environments utilizing Night Vision Devices.
- Ability to read write and comprehend Military and Commercial Technical and Field Manuals.
- Work shift work Holiday and overtime as scheduled or on demand based on the system performance
Communication Skills (Spoken Written Influencing Proficiency in Other Languages):
- Must be able to speak and write English fluently. Must communicate effectively and clearly verbally and in writing.
- Speak and write French is a significant plus
Technical Systems Proficiency:
- Current knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite to include Visio.
- Knowledge and experience Windows Linux
- Be able to adjust quickly in digitalized technology
- Microwave or/and fiber experience is a plus
- LTE or LMR network experience is a plus
Travel Required:
- Up to 30% North America / Europe
Eligibility:
- US citizenship is required
Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level
- Active Secret clearance desired.
Decision Making Complexity:
- Analyze if a defective product needs to be sent back to factory for repair under warranty
- Propose to management alternative if a defective device is not under warranty
- Propose the list of parts and accessories to purchase internally to keep a reasonable local stock
- Review and educate end users on potential misusage of the devices to reduce defects reports
- Review and educate Vehicle installers to ensure devices are installed adequately and following Airbus rules

Involved Communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties.
Physical Requirements:
- Environment: Be able to endure field conditions including possible overnight field assignments in extreme weather conditions (heat cold wind) and at height (helicopter travel mountain tops elevated walk areas towers)
- Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens able to read documents reports and engineering drawings able to identify correctly color coded component and wires able to drive under limited visibility environments utilizing Night Vision Devices
- Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
- Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings deliver information and participate in communications.
- Equipment Operation (personal computer telephone copies fax machine and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools
- Carrying: able to carry documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 50lbs for short distance and short period.
- Lifting: able to lift documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 50lbs for short distance and short period.
- Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings working on computer.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve replace or work on items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or outside.
- Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces mountains desert.
