This position is open to Alaskan Residents only.


This position is currently located in Anchorage.
The position may be in Anchorage Fairbanks or Juneau
depending on the location of the most qualified candidate.

What You Will Be Doing:
In this role you will lead and conduct analyses to inform recommendations on division goals policies and regulations. You will conduct short and long-range planning; manage the development and implementation of policy changes in response to legislative and administrative initiatives stakeholder input federal requirements and best-practice research. You will coordinate and implement significant projects or program changes essential to the Senior and Disabilities Services program and service delivery.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is being recruited in Anchorage Fairbanks and Juneau. The Anchorage office is located in Northeast Anchorage (1835 Bragaw Street) near Costco East High School various restaurants and a coffee shop. There are walking trails close to the office and parking is readily available.

The Fairbanks office is on the Old Richardson Highway and the Juneau office is located in the downtown area conveniently located near restaurants stores fitness centers and the scenic waterfront.

The division is currently allowing employees to work under a hybrid telework agreement working from home following a 3-month full-time office orientation period.

Who We Are Looking For:
  • Program Oversight: Plans coordinates and monitors programs to ensure that federal state and/or local government program requirements and plans are met providing professional consultation on the specialized services of the program or associated project(s).
  • Problem Solving:Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations.

  • Strategic Thinking: Formulates objectives and priorities and implements plans consistent with the long-term interests of the organization in a global environment. Capitalizes on opportunities and manages risks.

  • Legal Government and Jurisprudence:Knowledge of laws legal codes court procedures precedents legal practices and documents Government regulations Executive orders agency rules Government organization and functions and the democratic political process.

  • Oral Communication:Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example technical sensitive controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.

  • Requires occasional travel (typically a few days every other month or so) as needed for supervisory oversight management meetings or training

Qualifications

Three years of professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department and two years of supervisory and/or managerial experience which may be concurrent with the professional experience.

Special Note:
Professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department means experience in one of the professional areas that compose the divisions purpose and function to ensure the applicant has the knowledge of the work of the division to be managed.

For example in an administrative services division qualifying professional experience could be in any one of the professional areas that compose business administration; such as accounting procurement human resources and so on.

In a line division for example the Division of Mining Land & Water in the Department of Natural Resources qualifying experience could be in any one of the professional areas that provide for the use and protection of Alaskas State-owned land and water such as geology hydrology forestry natural resource management and so on.
