TEACHER OF THE VISUALLY IMPAIREDCREST provides services to students ages Pk - 22 in a substantially separate educational environment as well as within school districts in the greater Merrimack Valley area. Join a growing Vision department that is dedicated to supporting and advocating for individuals with low RESPONSIBILITIES:In this role you will work directly with students who are blind have low vision or multiple impairments providing specialized instruction and consultation that empowers them to access their education achieve greater independence and build a strong foundation for life beyond the classroom. Evaluate the vision needs of individual students and develop appropriate programming to enhance the students ability to access education and to achieve his/her highest level of independence. Job responsibilities include: evaluation assessment consultation and direct treatment to students assigned to the caseload and complete the required documentation as specified. As a member of the educational team you will collaborate and provide consultation and training to the classroom staff for inclusion of these therapeutic techniques into the educational process. - Travel to school districts (member and non member) to provide vision services to students - Conduct functional vision assessment and learning media assessments on a regular basis - Prepare paperwork for students IEP meetings and participate in IEP meetings on a regular basis - Provide instruction in Expanded Core Curriculum Braille assistive technology - Adapt education content for students with visual impairments - Collaborate with schools service providers educators and support staff - Arrange specialized materials and equipment - Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders regarding student progress Travel may be required from various program to program.
