Job Description:

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Ability to work non-traditional hours such as weekends evenings and overnights is required as needed.

Wage Information: $37.137-$48.278/hr depending on Nurse experience PLUS $3/hour differential for every hour worked. This position is exempt.



Job Duties: Directs and administers a comprehensive integrated multi-disciplinary Quality Assurance & Infection Control program for Norfolk Veterans Home. Coordinates with Facility Administrator and managers to determine data collection needs develop data collection methods and provide consultation regarding data collection and analysis. Interprets correlation and other measures to adjust weight and assess the significant differences trends or relationships that exist among data. Based on data collection and data analysis identifies system barriers and opportunities for program improvement and directs program change conducts root cause analysis and remove program barriers. Maintains accountability for follow up improvements and/or required plans of correction initiated through performance improvement activities/teams/projects. Collaborates with all shifts on quality principles and infection control protocol and procedures. Coordinates preparation for mock surveys and external surveys and review processes. Serves as a resource consultant to Facility Administrator and managers on applicable program state/federal and USVA standards regulations and guidelines. Identifies new or changes in standards or review process and provides leadership role to develop procedures related to new or changed standards and/or survey procedures. Organizes and implements educational programs to maintain overall staff knowledge of the QA & Infection Control program and process. Perform monitoring for infections in the facility through 24-hour report sheets and staff call records. Institute precautions for outbreaks and communicating precautions in coordination with the agencys clinical leadership and the Medical Director. Conduct weekly environmental rounds to ensure policy and procedure compliance. Other duties as assigned.



Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in a relevant field OR licensure as a registered nurse AND three years of program experience which includes statistical collection and analysis interpretation of regulations and laws evaluation of service efficiency root cause analysis and participation on QA/PI teams.

Preferred Qualifications: A current license to practice as Registered Nurse in Nebraska.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities: Experience in Long Term Care and prior infection control experience preferred. Knowledge of health care program theories concepts and practices; federal/state/or other QA Standards or regulations; survey procedures and techniques; and data collection and analysis concepts and practices. Ability to coordinate work activities of project/work teams; direct and review the work of staff; develop coordinate and administer a comprehensive and integrated QA & Infection Control program; coordinate external survey processes; provide leadership and consultation to administrators/managers to endorse QA activities; communicate effectively; obtain cooperation and collaboration of program officials to utilize QA procedures and practices; interpret and apply agency/state/federal laws and regulations; collect/interpret/analyze data relative to program outcome measures; conduct root cause analysis and present conclusions; ability to communicate effectively actively listen utilize critical thinking and make independent judgements.
