Job Description
A Historian/Archeologist and Preservationist II (Archeologist) full-time (40 hours/week) university staff position is available with the Virginia Tech Conservation Management Institute to support cultural resources management (CRM) at Marine Corps Base- Quantico (MCBQ) Virginia. Incumbent will support CRM at MCBQ through 1) assisting in the development of a programmatic agreement with the State Historic Preservation Office 2) integration with natural resource management and conservation 3) surveying and inventorying historic and archeological resources and 4) section 106 consultation. The position will be located at Marine Corps Base-Quantico Virginia near Stafford Virginia.
Required Qualifications
1) A B.S. history archaeology anthropology or a related field. 2). Strong professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archeological research administration or management. 3). At least some exposure to supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archeology 4) Ability to analyze data artifacts and historical structures 5). Experience with Global Positioning Systems and ESRI based GIS software a plus. 6). Ability to perform basic statistical analysis of field data and report findings of research through written and oral communication. 7). Valid Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications
1). Masters degree in history archaeology anthropology or a related field. 2). Previous experience working on military installations.
