The Durham Catholic District School Board is located just east of Toronto and is renowned for providing comprehensive Catholic education to over 25000 students in 38 elementary schools 7 secondary schools and 7 continuing and alternative education centers throughout Durham Region.
The Durham Catholic District School Board invites applications from qualified candidates interested in the following position:
POSITION: Plumber
LOCATION: Operations Maintenance and Administrative Centre (OMAC)383 Chaleur AvenueOshawa ONL1J 1G5
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
SALARY: Band 9 ($38.72 per hour effective September 1 2025)
START DATE: As soon as possible.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for installation operational and preventive maintenance of the plumbing heating and mechanical systems in all Board buildings. The incumbent is directly accountable to the Senior Manager Operations and Maintenance Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs the daily maintenance and repair of plumbing heating water fire and associated services sanitary fixtures fittings and equipment.
- Installs plumbing pipework fixtures and fittings in accordance with good engineering practices and current applicable plumbing codes.
- Conducts preventive maintenance so as to ensure maximum economy of operation prevent unnecessary breakdown of equipment and isolate potential problems.
- Performs maintenance of boiler systems and ensures chemicals are at proper levels.
- Performs upgrades on boilers and heating systems.
- Performs other related duties as instructed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Secondary School Diploma.
- Must be licensed plumber and/or steamfitter and gas technician # 1 (7 years).
Experience
- Three (3) years or more related experience is essential.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
- Must have a good knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Basic understanding of interface between plumbing and HVAC equipment including general system operating principles.
- Clean drivers abstract and valid drivers license.
- Criminal background check suitable to the Board is a condition of employment.
