Job Description

The LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) Technician is responsible for conducting regular inspections monitoring and repairs of leaks in accordance with environmental regulations and industry standards. The technician will operate and maintain LDAR monitoring equipment ensure accurate data collection and contribute to minimizing fugitive emissions from facilities. This role requires attention to detail and adherence to regulatory compliance standards. Key Accountabilities

  • Performs scheduled inspections of equipment to detect and repair leaks of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other regulated emissions.
  • Utilizes LDAR monitoring equipment such as infrared cameras and handheld detectors to identify leaks.
  • Record inspection results in the LDAR database ensuring proper documentation for compliance reports.
  • Ensures that repairs are performed in a timely manner coordinating with maintenance teams and supervisors as needed.
  • Stays current with changing regulations and ensure that all procedures meet state and federal environmental compliance requirements (e.g. EPA Method 21).
  • Maintains LDAR equipment perform routine calibration and troubleshoot malfunctions to ensure accuracy.
  • Communicates with site management to provide updates on the status of inspections and repairs.
  • Collaborates with the operational and HSE team to meet area and departmental HSE goals effectively
  • Complies with all the Companys Safety and Environmental policies practices and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
  • Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge safety standards and job performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education Certificates Licenses

    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Certification in LDAR monitoring preferred (e.g. Method 21 training)
    • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record required

    Experience

    • 1-3 years of experience in environmental monitoring or industrial equipment inspection
    • Previous experience in oil and gas petrochemical or other industrial environments preferred

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Critical:

    • Knowledge of environmental regulations regarding fugitive emissions particularly EPA Method 21.
    • Familiarity with LDAR equipment including infrared cameras flame ionization detectors and optical gas imaging systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical documents safety guidelines and regulatory standards.

    Required:

    • Demonstrated attention to detail to accurately identify and document leaks and potential compliance issues.
    • Proficiency in using handheld monitors and other testing devices.
    • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and the types of equipment commonly found in industrial facilities.
    • Written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability.

    Desired:

    • Experience with environmental compliance software for recording data and generating reports.
    • Familiarity with gas and vapor recovery systems.
    • Basic knowledge of industry-specific regulations beyond EPA Method 21 such as state-level emissions guidelines.

    Work Environment

    This role works primarily in a non-office this capacity incumbents are regularly:

    • Exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold heavy winds rain or snow.
    • Exposed to loud noise level elements
    • Required to drive to and access job sites in light of day as well as in darkness to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring long drives to locations isolated from interaction with others and towns.
    • Required to balance bend squat crouch climb reach grasp stoop kneel push/pull and lift objects and use apparatus to push/pull and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
    • Subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals high-decibel noise from production equipment fumes or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles; potentially combustible components; hazardous off- road conditions such as dust ice and snow.
    • May be requested to work long hours to complete job assignments.
    • May work a rotating schedule shift and/or be on call.
    • Follow all company safety policies and protocols.
    • Required to perform active physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs.
    • Required to have visual acuity to work with parts equipment apparatus etc.
    • Required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency. field locations.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is between $34.33- $40.76 hourly based on a full-time schedule. This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus with excellent benefits including full health benefits 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting tuition reimbursement 9/80 flex schedules sick vacation and holiday pay.
