Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas or DMAs and duopolies in 11 DMAs including the three largest DMAs (New York Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations 18 are affiliated with the FOX addition to distributing sports entertainment and syndicated content our television stations collectively produce approximately 1200 hours of local news every week. Job Highlights:
Generate story leads and respond to breaking news for broadcast and digital.
Proactively gather and communicate news content to use in newscasts and on digital platforms.
Organize logistics and track details for stories and crews.
Coordinate daily assignments of news coverage and special events assignments.
Develop contacts and sources to advance stories beyond a press release.
Monitor police and fire scanners and other sources of breaking news.
Maintain contact with law enforcement fire government agencies and other key community partners for up-to-date information and story leads.
Handle high volume email and phone traffic.
Think critically under pressure and work professionally with colleagues and community partners.
Daily collaboration with reporters/anchors photographers production teams management and other staff members.
Participate in editorial department and station meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
What Youre Bringing:
Education & Experience: Bachelors degree preferred focus in Communications Journalism or related field with a minimum of two years of experience as an Assignment Editor in a medium to large television market. Knowledge of ethical and journalist legal parameters for mass media. Exceptional knowledge of television news production and electronic and social media newsgathering. Experience with newsroom computer systems including iNews.
Skills: Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Solid news and editorial judgment. Social media expert. Strong sense of urgency. Extremely self-reliant organized creative and detail oriented.
Professionalism: Ability to take direction and work under deadline pressure consistently displaying a professional demeanor. Positive and supportive newsroom citizen.

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Flexibility in scheduling is essential including evenings early mornings weekends and holidays. Candidates will also be required to join the SAG-AFTRA Washington-Mid Atlantic Local union for the off-air news unit.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements the pay rate/range for this role with final offer amount dependent on education skills experience and location is $35.00-36.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance a 401(k) plan paid time off and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.Full-Time
