The Civil Service Board is seeking a Hearing Officer to conductpublic hearings for dismissal suspension and demotion appeals.
The Hearing Officer hears cases appealed to the Board andwithin 14 to 30 days of each hearings conclusion present Findings of Fact andConclusion of Law to the Board which will confirm or disaffirm the actionsrecommended. Knowledge of the rules ofevidence judicial procedures accepted legal and court interpretations theCity Charter City Ordinances and Civil Service Rules and procedures will beutilized in conducting these hearings and providing recommendations.
They shall serve as the legal advisor to the Civil ServiceBoard by ruling upon all questions of law and the admissibility of evidence inthose hearings before the full Board.
They shall prepare a written report for all hearings inwhich the Hearing Officer presides or serves as legal advisor to the CivilService Board. This written report shallcontain the findings of fact conclusions of law and the Hearing Officersrecommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must possess a J.D. degree and have beenadmitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio with experience in courttrial and adjudicatory work. Experienceas a court referee hearing officer or arbitrator is preferred.
