Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Development the Leadership & Legacy Giving Officer is responsible for managing all aspects of the donor development cycle and stewardship of donors and prospects who have capacity to give at the major gift and planned giving level. A goal of ensuring strategic highly personalized engagement with donors who have a passion for philanthropic impact the incumbent will maximize revenue to support mission priorities. This position focuses on donor centered fundraising through the identification cultivation and solicitation of a robust portfolio of donors and prospects in support of The Salvation Army.
Key Accountabilities
- Identify cultivate and manage a pipeline of prospects and donors aligning their interests with organizational priorities to secure philanthropic investments.
- Develop and implement tailored fundraising opportunities and donor engagement strategies including 60% in-person interactions.
- Secure and negotiate significant donations including planned gifts (80% revocable 20% irrevocable) and manage related documentation and agreements.
- Engage with financial and legal professionals (e.g. lawyers planners underwriters) to promote giving opportunities on behalf of clients.
- Participate in organizing events and recognition activities to strengthen donor relationships and acknowledge contributions.
- Collaborate with program leads to enhance fundraising strategy stay updated on trends and legislation and communicate impact effectively.
- Create fundraising materials such as proposals solicitation plans stewardship documents and donor stories for various media.
- Record all donor interactions in Raisers Edge NXT analyze donor trends and behaviors and maintain a prospect management system.
- May specialize in managing either leadership or legacy donors aligning with overall fundraising goals and strategic priorities.
- Set revenue targets monitor financial performance and participate in moves management and prospect clearance processes.
Education and Experience Qualifications
- Minimum of a 2-to-3-year diploma/degree in Fundraising (preferred) Business Administration Marketing or equivalent experience
- CFRE or working toward CFRE designation is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising securing leadership and legacy gifts that significantly impact organizational mission with knowledge and understanding of annuities tax laws and/or accounting
- Knowledge of Canadian fundraising best practices legislation tax implications and restrictions
- Understands and complies with Imagine Canadas Standards AFP Code of Ethics and relevant policies laws and regulations.
- Skilled in major and planned giving including donor cultivation solicitation and understanding of tax and legal implications.
- Strong written verbal and listening abilities; adept at writing compelling proposals reports and presentations.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to build partnerships internally and externally and interpret donor and corporate interests.
- Able to plan lead and deliver projects on tight timelines while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptionally organized with a keen attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
- Stays current with fundraising strategies and sector trends; committed to continuous professional development.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $60269.34 to $75336.67 with a maximum of $90404.00.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
