Description of Work
Join our team and play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly.
This position will involve the construction relocation maintenance and repair of secondary underground electric distribution lines and systems. Position assists in the installation and maintenance of up to 350KW stand-by generators switch gear transformers and other components of an electrical system and construct extension or replacement lines to the existing system as they relate to VIPER sites statewide. Work is performed under the general supervision of a VIPER Network Engineer (Facilities Team Supervisor) and is reviewed by NC DOI inspections. Position provides preventative and corrective maintenance on stand-by and emergency generators within the defined VIPER maintenance schedule. A major part of this job is the repair and maintenance of backup emergency power generators/systems and the employee is expected to develop extensive knowledge in this area. This job requires flexibility to work long hours. Work is normally accomplished alone but may require employee to work with others to complete tasks as needed. Job requires that employee work with vendors to obtain supplies and repair parts as needed.Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Management Preferences (Optional): These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.
- Considerable knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the electrical trade.
- Ability to locate then correct defects in electrical systems and equipment.
- Experience working with back-up power generators.
- Experience working with 3-phase power.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two (2) years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two (2) or more highly complex mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification:
May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart FSupplemental and Contact Information
