Our Mission
The mission of Corrections Services is to enhance public safety through the safe and secure incarceration of offenders effective probation/parole supervision and proven rehabilitative strategies that successfully reintegrate offenders into society as well as to assist individuals and communities victimized by crime. Goals and priorities are built around the Departments commitment to public safety and rehabilitation and serve to guide our performance in carrying out our mission. Goals and priorities include: staff and offender safety provision of basic services opportunity for change opportunity for making amends and reentry.
The Probation and Parole Officeris responsible for supervising and investigating criminal offenders through the provision of probation parole and pardon assigned to the district office.

Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR
Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelors degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.
This position requires the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotion of a permanent classified employee of the Louisiana State Government.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Probation and Parole Officer 1 2 or 3 dependingon the level of experience of the selected applicant.
