Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team in Sandton South Africa. The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all company operations are conducted in compliance with local and international safety regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety and a passion for creating safe work environments. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in accordance with local and international regulations - Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions - Train employees on safety procedures and provide ongoing safety education and awareness programs - Investigate and report on accidents incidents and near misses and make recommendations for prevention - Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to identify and mitigate potential safety risks - Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety incidents inspections and training - Stay current on industry safety standards and regulations and make recommendations for improvement - Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors - Act as the main point of contact for all safety-related matters and provide guidance and support to employees and management - Participate in safety meetings and provide regular updates on safety performance and initiatives - Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) is properly maintained and available for use - Coordinate with external safety agencies and authorities as needed Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering or a related field - Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction safety - Strong knowledge of local and international safety regulations and standards - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Proven ability to develop and implement safety programs and procedures - Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently and in a team environment - Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software - Professional certification in safety is preferred We offer a competitive salary and benefits package as well as opportunities for professional growth and development within our company.
