TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with Division Directors OSHA coordinators employees and TOSHA Inspectors. Must be able to make oral/visual presentations to large and small groups in a variety of environments. Requires the use of general office equipment such as computers and telephones. Requires lifting objects weighing up to 35 lbs. such as various equipment traversing uneven ground bending stooping kneeling climbing reaching above head examining machinery. Specialized protective and safety equipment may be required for some projects. Requires the ability to use an automobile to travel to various work sites around the City.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment and on various work sites including exposure to dust fumes odors noise heat and all types of weather conditions. May be required to respond to accident scenes anywhere in the city 24 hours a day when necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Industrial Hygiene Engineering or related field and four (4) years experience conducting occupational or industry safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements or a closely relevant experience or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license as a condition of continued employment. Specialized knowledge and experience related to operations in assigned area preferred. Certified Safety Professional and OSHA General Industry Certification preferred.
