Associates degree/Technical degree or equivalent Sterile Processing Department supervisor experience required. Currently certified as a Sterile Processing and Distribution (SPD) Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) required.

Job Highlight:
Reports directly to the Senior Director of Surgical Services and is responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily functions and tasks of supply management coordinating supervising and directing the daily Sterile Processing activities that encompass decontamination assembly and all sterilization processes for all instruments and instrument trays. Coordinates the case cart system of pulling supplies by doctor preference sheets restocks shelves and maintains 48-hour supplies in picking area. Coordinates the process to ensure that doctors preference sheets and pick lists are updated in an ongoing manner and coordinates this process with OR leadership team. Assures the cleaning packaging and sterilization adhere to hospital infection control guidelines and follows approved procedures. Prepares and knows the specific uses of all instrumentation and equipment used for surgical procedures. Orders and receives instruments and equipment for the Surgery Department evaluates quality and cost effectiveness before requesting instruments to be ordered. Maintains good open communication with Surgeons OR leadership team and Employees. Maintains an organized clean and neat supply area according to Infection Control standards.
Job Description:
Knowledge and 3-5 years experience with ANSI standards sterilization. practices/procedures and ophthalmic instrumentation decontamination/care/handling. Knowledge of building surgical preference cards and case cart systems required. Must be able to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency and composure. Experience with streamlining processes between departments and improving productivity. Knowledge of infection control practices and standards as applicable to surgical and sterile processing environment. Strong leadership interpersonal skills problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Must manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer software program. Knowledge of quality data analysis. Experience with supply management and verification of charges. Ophthalmic surgery experience preferred. Familiar with clinical computer documentation systems and reporting.
