Job Summary:
The Sheriff Criminal Records Clerk will be responsible for maintaining and updating accurate criminal records within the Sheriffs department. They will ensure that all records are properly filed documented and easily accessible for law enforcement and legal purposes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred
- Proven experience working in a law enforcement or criminal justice environment
- Knowledge of legal terminology procedures and regulations related to criminal records management
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications and data management systems
Responsibilities:
- Receive review and process incoming criminal records
- Enter and update data in the records management system accurately and promptly
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all records in compliance with regulations
- Respond to inquiries from law enforcement agencies attorneys and the public regarding criminal records
- Assist in conducting audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of records
- Collaborate with other department staff to support law enforcement operations
