Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion MI on a full-time basis.
The Role:
This position is a unique opportunity to lead and optimize GMs 3rd party logistics operations within the LOC (Logistics Optimization Center). The LOC 3rd Party Lead will be responsible for managing relationships performance and execution of external logistics providers to ensure seamless material flow cost efficiency and alignment with GMs lean manufacturing principles. This role will collaborate across cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement support program launches and ensure compliance with GM standards.
What Youll Do:
Work as One Team with GM Logistics Material Execution and 3rd Party Providers to execute all product programs and ensure alignment with GMs LOC strategy. Manage funding performance metrics and operational execution for 3rd party logistics initiatives.
Lead daily operations and performance of 3rd party logistics providers
Develop and maintain KPIs for delivery quality cost and compliance
Ensure 3rd party adherence to GMs Lean Material Strategies and GMS principles
Support launch execution and steady-state operations across multiple programs
Drive continuous improvement initiatives with 3rd party partners
Coordinate inbound and outbound material flow through LOC
Monitor and resolve issues related to delivery packaging and part presentation
Support PFEP development and integration with 3rd party logistics plans
Conduct regular audits and performance reviews of 3rd party operations
Collaborate with GM Supply Chain Manufacturing and Engineering teams
Provide updates to plant staff and program teams as required
Develop and track budget allocations and cost-saving initiatives
Ensure compliance with safety ergonomic and environmental standards
Support BIQ and quality objectives through robust logistics execution
Optimize dock strategies material routes and storage solutions in coordination with 3rd party providers
Required Qualifications:
5 years of experience in Logistics Supply Chain or Manufacturing
Strong analytical computer presentation and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage external partnerships
Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution.
High level of analytical ability and problem-solving for complex logistics challenges
Proficient in MS Office (Excel Access Project Word PowerPoint)
Knowledge of logistics operations material flow and supply chain optimization
Experience managing 3rd party providers and vendor relationships
Strong communication skills both oral and written with ability to present to all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with GMOS PFEP and LOC operations
Project management and launch execution experience
Bachelors degree in supply chain logistics or related field
Familiarity with lean logistics and continuous improvement methodologies
Knowledge of MGO-A VM2000/VBIMS
