A key public sector institution is recruiting a highly experienced Senior Specialist: Software Tester (Performance Testing) to join its Strategy Enablement and Modernisation Division at its Pretoria Head Office. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who thrives in complex testing environments and wants to make a meaningful contribution to large-scale digital transformation.
The successful candidate will take the lead in designing and executing performance testing strategies across mission-critical systems ensuring optimal functionality scalability and reliability.
Key Duties:
- Define design and execute performance testing strategies and test plans
- Drive continuous improvement and implement performance testing best practices
- Analyse test results identify system bottlenecks and recommend optimisation solutions
- Collaborate across teams to define and manage testing requirements and defect resolutions
- Report on test execution and system metrics to inform key decisions
- Align performance testing processes with enterprise frameworks tools and governance standards
- Support the development of technical and process improvements within the testing lifecycle
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams during testing phases
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma in Computer Science Information Systems IT or Engineering (NQF 7) OR Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with 15 years relevant testing experience
- 810 years experience in a software testing environment with 34 years specialising in performance testing
- Certified in testing techniques (e.g. ISTQB or ISEB Technical Testing)
- Proficient in at least 3 scripting languages and familiar with 3 performance testing tools and protocols
- Strong SQL and DB2 skills with understanding of network architecture
- Experience using HP Quality Centre and Microsoft Office applications
- Skilled in producing reports and performance metrics for project stakeholders
