Job Description
Are you a passionate and experienced Tailings Engineer looking to take the next step in your career A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a highly skilled professional to join their Mine Waste team on key projects across South Africa and beyond.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Bachelors degree in Civil Geotechnical or Mining Engineering (BEng essential)
- Professional registration with ECSA as a (compulsory)
- 5 to 10 years proven experience in mine waste management and tailings dam engineering
- Sound understanding of tailings facility design construction monitoring and closure
- Proficiency in relevant engineering and modelling software
- Strong report writing communication and client-facing skills
- Lead and support the design and analysis of tailings storage facilities (TSFs)
- Conduct geotechnical assessments stability analyses and risk evaluations
- Provide input on water management closure plans and rehabilitation strategies
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams clients and regulatory authorities
- Ensure compliance with health safety and environmental standards
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence within the team
