Job Description

Be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is shaping the future of technology at Lehigh University. We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Systems Application Engineer to join our Library and Technology Services (LTS) department.

In this critical role you will engage in the evaluation planning and implementation of cuttingedge technological solutions to ensure the reliability availability and performance of Lehigh Universitys IT infrastructure and applications. With a focus on bridging the gap between traditional systems engineering and application development you will maintain and manage systems infrastructure both onpremises and in the cloud as well as contribute to application development projects.

Position Number: S87770

This position is a Grade: 11 40 with an approximate salary range of $82670$100570 and is subject to change based on experience skills and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Write code and scripts to develop and maintain applications and automation tools.
Create new applications to meet the needs of the university and contribute to the development of new features and functionality for existing applications.
Design implement manage and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure systems in a hybrid environment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Continuously improve performance availability and reliability of infrastructure systems.
Analyze emerging technologies and assess their potential to meet the needs of the university.
Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the observability of infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues working with stakeholders to understand the impact and prioritize solutions.
Collaborate with the team to continuously improve and implement DR/BC procedures

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Mathematics or Information Systems or a related degree; Masters Degree preferred
Five to eight years of related work experience
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).
Indepth knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems virtualization technologies such as VMWare and cloud computing.
Solid understanding of objectoriented programming (OOP) principles data structures and algorithms.
Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Experience with scripting & programming languages such as Python PHP Go Bash Perl JavaScript or PowerShell.
Experience with version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices.
Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Salt Ansible Puppet or Chef.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

The position is a hybrid position based in Bethlehem Pennsylvaniathat currently requires 2 days a week onsite at Lehigh University but is subject to change.
Interviews for this role will be conducted in person on campus.
