Responsibilities:
- Lead Innovation in Product Recommendation: Spearhead the optimization of the technical design for the Product Recommender (PR) platform collaborating closely with the Lead Data Scientist to push the boundaries of personalization.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Take full ownership of the daily operations of the PR platform ensuring reliability scalability and performance.
- Bridge Business and Technology: Work collaboratively with the Product Owner Lead Data Scientist and other technical team members to translate evolving product requirements into actionable technical tasks and solutions.
- Champion Agile Practices: Actively assist the Product Owner with Sprint planning and prioritization and coordinate the technical team to achieve Sprint goals in a dynamic Agile environment.
- Uphold Quality Standards: Oversee the creation of comprehensive technical documentation and conduct rigorous reviews of Pull Requests and Sprint tasks to ensure technical excellence and adherence to best practices (e.g. proper descriptions acceptance criteria).
- Mentor and Guide: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Requirements:
Must-Haves:
- Educational Foundation: An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science Statistics Mathematics or a related STEM field.
- Extensive ML Experience: A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in ML engineering or providing engineering support for data science in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Deep ML/DS Knowledge: Profound understanding of machine learning algorithms data science concepts and statistical modeling.
- Python & ML Stack Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Python software engineering and its machine learning stack (e.g. Scikit-learn TensorFlow PyTorch Pandas NumPy).
- Big Data Expertise: Proven experience working with large datasets using PySpark and RDBMS (e.g. SQL).
- Cloud ML Solutions: Proficiency in developing deploying and managing end-to-end ML solutions in a cloud-hosted environment (specifically Azure).
- MLOps Acumen: Demonstrable experience with the design and implementation of MLOps frameworks including CI/CD pipelines and continuous monitoring for ML models.
- DevOps Technologies: Proficient in DevOps technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Azure Cloud Services: Proficient in the use of Azure cloud services and infrastructure.
- Version Control: Proficiency in using version control systems particularly GIT.
- Agile Methodology: Experience working effectively within an Agile development environment (e.g. Scrum Kanban).
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and translate business needs into data product designs that drive value.
- Work Authorization: Must be fully eligible to live and work in South Africa.
