The Role
To work with Dr Elizabeth Heidrich on the OFWAT-funded project METREAU: microbial electrochemical technologies for resource recovery and utilisation. The goal of this project is to unlock the resource potential of wastewater by developing microbial electrochemical technologies capable of treating wastewater whilst recovering resource.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled researcher to join in a new project to help support he design implementation and testing of a demonstrator scale microbial electrolysis cells on site at a wastewater treatment plant with supporting research also carried out in our laboratories. The aim of the project is to conduct research into the operation and design on these units in order to optimise their performance for wastewater treatment and resource recovery.
You will ideally have excellent wet laboratory skills. You should be able to work in an organised systematic and safe way both on site and in a laboratory.
This is a fixed term position for the duration of 18 months.

A PhD in Environmental Engineering Chemical Engineering or a related subject
